Composers-in-Residence

To celebrate the craft of choral composition and provide first-hand experience with living composers, the National Choir Festival features composers-in-residence:

2021 - Jake Runestad

Runestad will explain the process of composing A Silence Haunts Me, and prepare the festival choir for performance of one of his compositions.

2020 - Rosephanye Powell

Powell will conduct the festival choir in performance of her composition, I Will Sing, and lead a Gospel Master Class with Dr. Brandon Boyd.

2019 - Stacey V. Gibbs

Gibbs composed, rehearsed, and conducted his commissioned work Music Helps Me Make It Through the Day.

2018 - Dominick Di'Orio

DiOrio presented an interactive  contemporary music master class to student participants.
